EVALUASI KETAHANAN PANGAN RUMAH TANGGA PERDESAAN DAN PERKOTAAN DISUMATERA UTARA, INDONESIA: MODEL ESTIMASI LOGISTIK ORDINAL

Abstract

National and regional food security are critical, but they are insufficient to meet the food security needs of
households and individuals. Individual and household food security, on the other hand, is a reasonable foundation
for national food security. This is reflected in the fact that food insecurity persists in these regions, despite the fact
that food security is guaranteed at the national and regional levels. The purpose of this study is to examine the
level and characteristics of food security in rural and urban households, as well as the determinants of food
security in rural and urban households in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. Susenas 2018 data is used in this
study. This is a cross-sectional quantitative study. Data were analyzed in two stages, including descriptive analysis
and statistical methods using the ordinal logistic regression model. The findings show that the "vulnerable"
category (37.20%), the "food secure" category (32.60%), the "questionable" category (16.70%), and the "food
insecure" category (13.5%) dominated the level of food security of rural and urban households in North Sumatra
Province. Rural areas were dominated by the "vulnerable" category (45.77%), while urban areas were dominated
by the "food secure" category (36.64%).
